The Border Terrier is a small, energetic, and adaptable breed of dog known for its distinctive otter-like head shape and determined personality. With their origins as working dogs on the border between England and Scotland, they were primarily bred for fox hunting, resulting in a tireless and tenacious nature. The average weight for adult Border Terriers ranges between 6 to 7 KG (13 to 15.5 pounds), making them a compact yet sturdy companion. Their wiry double coat, which comes in various shades such as red, grizzle and tan, or blue and tan, requires regular grooming, including hand-stripping to maintain a neat appearance. Friendly and affectionate, the Border Terrier makes an excellent family pet, known for their intelligence and eagerness to please, which also renders them well-suited for obedience and agility training.
