Dachshunds are a small breed of dog that were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers. They are one of the most sought after dogs on dogs.ie. They are also sometimes called "sausage dogs" because of their long, slender bodies. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties: smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired. They are loyal and affectionate dogs that make great companions. Dachshunds are relatively easy to train, but they can be stubborn at times! They often suffer from back issues, intervertebral disc disease, due to their longer spines. They dolichocephalic (long-faced) dogs, and are more prone to nasal fungal & bacterial infections.

Rufus the Stud... Miniature Dachshund

Carlow Dachshund Age: 1 year

Rufus is a miniature dachshund, IKC registered. Fully vaccinated and wormed (most recently Feb 2024). Beautiful, healthy stud with silky, shiny coat, like pictures. Rufus is a very affectionate pet dog, fully trained and excellent with children. He is a 100% house dog and we couldn't be happier with him. Very obedient dog; great on a lead and mixes well with other dogs that he meets. Available to travel or host for meetup, depending on your preferences.
