Ziggy the male German Shepherd dog, IKC Registered

Clare German Shepherd Age: 2 years 1 Male
Please take the time to read this Ad completely or you will be refused, thank you. For sale: an affectionate German Shepherd dog located in Clare. This handsome male with a striking brown and tan coat is nearly 3 years old and is IKC registered. He has a gentle and loving temperament, making him a perfect companion for families or individuals seeking a loyal and devoted pet. *ABOUT ZIGGY* I rescued Ziggy when he was 18 months old. When I first saw him, he was tied to a gate at the side of a house in Limerick. He had his head down and tail tucked in looking very miserable and scared. As I knocked in to enquire about him, I realised there was also multiple small dogs on the other side of his gate barking and growling at him. Ziggy wasn’t reacting to them but I can’t imagine how stressful it must have been for him to deal with that daily for god knows how long. I asked the owner what his story was, he told me that he had sold a horse to a man, and as part of the payment he accepted Ziggy, but after a few weeks he realised that Ziggy was “too quiet for the yard” . He told me that there was someone coming to buy him in a few days but if I wanted him I could take him away for €100. I knew there was no way I could rest easily leaving him there in that situation so I offered him €70 as that’s all I had on me at the time. Thankfully, he accepted it and I brought Ziggy home. When we arrived home, I opened the side entrance gate and let him off the lead in my back garden. I have a female Belgian Malinois (Mira) who has the prefect temperament socially, and can interact with other dogs large or small in a very friendly manner. For Ziggy and Mira it was love at first sight haha lol.. after seeing this I couldn’t give him to a shelter.. I wanted him to have all the love he never got, and I knew we would give him that. Since then he has of course become part of the family. He is extremely affectionate and vocally whiney when he is getting petted, (HE LOVES BEING LOVED!) He has had interactions with other dogs on and off leash. From these interactions I learned that he can be friendly with other dogs but if they show any aggression towards him he will react aggressively too. I’ve seen him try to fight with an aggressive/dominant female Husky, and also a female Pitbull. He can get on good with my friends and female German Shepherd puppy and go on walks together, and also with my own female Pomeranian, so it is a reactive aggression. He is very good on the leash, no pulling and listens to the basic commands. Off leash he has a very good recall, he doesn’t like to stray far from me anyway (he needs a leader and protector). He will chase cats! He is scared of loud noises and strong winds! Reason for this Ad: After 11years of waiting I have been given a house through social housing. The gut wrenching problem is they do not allow dogs that are on a “restricted breeds list” .. It breaks my heart that I have to make this Ad, but my hope is to find someone who wants to give Ziggy the attention and love he deserves. My wife and sons (10) and (8) are heartbroken too. We absolutely love and adore Ziggy. Mira is going to be heartbroken too đŸ„ș😱 . Ideal home for Ziggy would be with a family or person who can give him plenty of love and attention, he will be very happy to live with another large female dog, who is NOT AGGRESSIVE or DOMINANT. Not suitable to live with small or large aggressive dogs, especially male. Please only enquire about Ziggy if you have experience with large dogs, I will require pictures of the environment he will be living in, the Eircode for the address he will be living at, and pictures of any other dogs he will be living with. Ziggy is very well behaved, but can be easily frightened by the unknown, (I sometimes call him Scooby Doo). I do not want enquiries from people who think you have to be “Alpha” to discipline a dog. He will not react positively to this kind of training and will just make him fearful. The best and only way to train Ziggy is with TRUST, LOVE and PATIENCE. He is just a big baby really ❀ I am charging €100 for rehoming, but I will listen to my gut and if I don’t feel like he is going to a genuine loving family or person who’s motives for this dog is to just give him a place where he can be happy and loved, never scared or frightened then you’ll be wasting your time. I DO NOT WANT THIS DOG TO BRED. If you wish to rehome Ziggy then you must agree to those terms. If you plan to neuter Ziggy then that would be your choice. Contact Chris through WhatsApp on 0830155649 if you have any further questions, or would like to set up a date to meet Ziggy. Thank you 🙏
