The Scottish Deerhound is a large breed of hound, once used primarily for hunting deer, and now mostly a family pet. They are gentle, loving dogs that get along well with other animals and children. They require a lot of exercise, and love to run and play. They are also very independent, and can be a bit stubborn at times. Scottish Deerhounds are loyal and protective of their family, and make great watchdogs. They are relatively easy to train. They are similar to Irish Wolfhounds in many ways.
