The Flat-Coated Retriever is a joyful and elegant breed, often overshadowed by its more popular retriever cousins like the Labrador and Golden Retriever. Unlike the stockier Labrador or the lush-coated Golden, the Flat-Coat has a sleek, feathered black or liver-coloured coat and a distinctive, perpetually happy expression. Known as the “Peter Pan” of the dog world, it retains its youthful exuberance well into adulthood. While Labradors and Goldens are often seen as dependable family pets or service dogs, the Flat-Coated Retriever brings a slightly more mischievous, clownish charm. It is just as intelligent and affectionate, but with an extra dash of enthusiasm and playfulness that sets it apart. Though less common, those who know the breed value its gentle temperament, keen hunting instincts, and boundless optimism. Flat-coated Retrievers are wonderful family dogs. They are loving toward children, friendly to everyone and extremely sociable. They live to be with their family, and they thrive on attention and affection. Temperamentally, the flat-coated retriever may seem forever young. Both parents are our pets and can be seen when viewing. Both parents are hip and eye scored. Hip score is 0 for both of them.
