Description

Hi there, due to being unable to care for this great boy anymore, I am looking to rehome him with a new family.

Rico is a funny, affectionate and intelligent fella who loves snuggling up just as much as he loves having the zoomies around the garden. He is house trained, can give the paw, roll over, sit, even do twirls for treats!

He can pull a bit on the lead but is getting better with this. He does not like small dogs when out on walks and I have him muzzled due to this. He has lived peacefully with a small dog in the past but when in public he does not like them.

He neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. He has never had any health issues. His coat is wiry on his back and softer on his belly. He doesn't shed much. He is okay getting washed but is reluctant to get his nails clipped so I take him to the vet for that.

He prefers blankets to a dog bed(he ripped a few up so we stick with blankets now).

He is very good at alerting to any strangers coming to the door and enjoys being on look out through the window.

He is a great dog and we are devastated to have to rehome him but due to increased work demands and more time away from the home it is not fair for him to be home alone so much.

He would be best suited to a home where someone is home more often and can give him the attention he needs. Also, somewhere secure and less populated would be great if possible .

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Serious enquiries only.

Nominal and negotiable fee to ensure serious parties only.

Tips for contacting sellers

  1. Keep communication through our messaging system for as long as possible.
  2. Choose carefully what information you share about yourself in your messages. Do share info if you have a garden, young kids, or other suitable information to help the seller know you are a suitable buyer.
  3. Report suspicious activity to your local Garda Station and to us via the Report ad button.
  4. We recommend you print or save a copy of this page for your records in case the ad is updated / closed.

Tips for purchasing a dog

  1. Ask sellers to provide an ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details. You will also need to provide the same & a proof of address to transfer the microchip to your name.
  2. Note microchip IDs posted here (972274200531668) and check the microchip certificates (important) when you visit to make sure they match and the sellers details are on the certificate too (see example microchip certificates).
  3. Do not purchase a dog without seeing a microchip certificate. It is illegal to sell a dog without a microchip that's fully registered (info).
  4. Do not purchase a dog from a seller in a car park or other business location.
  5. Ask sellers about the vet who has taken care of the dogs. Ask for the dog's vaccination certificate(s).
  6. Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract & ask for a written receipt.
  7. It's best not to bring young kids to first meetings, to avoid disappointment in the case you decide not to buy a dog.
