Dachshunds are a small breed of dog that were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers. They are one of the most sought after dogs on dogs.ie. They are also sometimes called "sausage dogs" because of their long, slender bodies. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties: smooth, wire-haired, and longhaired. They are loyal and affectionate dogs that make great companions. Dachshunds are relatively easy to train, but they can be stubborn at times! They often suffer from back issues, intervertebral disc disease, due to their longer spines. They are dolichocephalic (long-faced) dogs, and thus are more prone to nasal fungal & bacterial infections. As with all breeds you should always learn a little bit about the breed.

We have two Dachshund puppies still available in our kennel, Chamomile Grove. Puppies are currently 7 weeks old and will be going home once 10 weeks old. Parents are genetically tested and IKC registered with good temperaments, high drive and affectionate personality. All puppies have been vet screened, microchiped and vaccinated as well as recieved scheduled worming. Mom is actively attending dog shows and puppies are showing show potential. These are energetic puppies. Dachshunds are used for hunting, they require adequate exercise and space to fullfill their breed needs such as digging and scent work. Puppies are raised with a Greyhound and cats so are used to bigger dogs and cats running around. Desensitzed to daily noises and raised in a busy household.
