I am currently looking to arrange a mating for Toby with a registered female Schnauzer. It is very important to me that any potential match is also a registered member of the IKC to ensure the pedigree standards are maintained.

My intention is to have him neutered following this, but I would very much like to allow him the opportunity to breed first, as he has a fantastic temperament and excellent qualities.

1. Keep communication through our messaging system for as long as possible.
2. Choose carefully what information you share about yourself.
3. Ask for recent health check certificate from their vet, this should check for known issues with the breed & have details of vaccinations. The AKC has a comprehensive list of their health testing requirements per breed.
4. Ask breeders about their vet who has taken care of the dog and contact the vet directly.
5. Ask breeders to provide their ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details.
6. If you are new to breeding, please, please, read this article about breeding dogs.
7. Stud dogs listed need to be 12 months or older. While bigger breeds may mature faster, often health complications don't show until later.
8. Report suspicious activity to your local Garda Station & / or the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine.
