Tolkien was born in Kanturk, Co. Cork, where we adopted him back in February 2024. Since then, he has been a proud resident of Cork city. He is a male Yorkshire Terrier puppy.
Very energetic and always down to play, Tolkien is extremely affectionate and ready to befriend whoever is willing to give him attention. He attended the Irish Working Dog College, he is crate trained (overnight with no issues and up to 4 consecutive hours in the day) and is improving his skills on being walked on a leash. He also attends doggie day care three times a week, so he is well accustomed to the company of other dogs.
He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed (we are waiting for his appointment to get him neutered). He loves travelling as he is used to daily car rides in his carrier, and he also flew all the way to Canada and back to Ireland! He’s been exposed to very enthusiastic children of various ages and he completely matched their energy.
Due to his exuberant personality and working dog nature, the best environment for him would be somewhere where he can run freely and play, ideally with other dogs or pets as he loves their company other than human company. The ideal parent would be someone working from home and/or with the time and energy to keep him engaged and challenged for a good portion of the day.
His new parent will get, along with Tolkien, all of his belongings - toys, crate, brushes, carrier, harnesses, leashes, cleaning products and assortments of food.
