2 Adorable pure bred Yakutian Laika Puppies 🐶 have now arrived –Now looking for Their Forever Homes! 🐶 The Yakutian Laika is a fascinating and resilient breed that has adapted to the extreme conditions of Siberia, particularly the harsh winters of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in northeastern Russia. This breed is one of the oldest types of Laika dogs, believed to be descended from ancient sled dogs and hunting dogs that were used by indigenous people of the region for centuries. Characteristics and Appearance: Size: The Yakutian Laika is a medium-sized dog, typically standing between 20 to 24 inches (50 to 60 cm) at the shoulder and weighing around 45 to 60 pounds (20 to 27 kg). Coat: The breed is known for its thick, dense double coat, which helps it stay warm in temperatures that can drop as low as -50°C (-58°F). Their outer coat is straight and harsh, while the undercoat is soft and insulating. Color: The coat comes in various colors, including white, black, gray, and various shades of red. The white color is particularly common. Ears and Tail: They have erect, triangular-shaped ears and a fluffy, curled tail that adds to their striking appearance. Temperament: Intelligent: Yakutian Laikas are highly intelligent, which makes them easy to train for tasks such as herding, sledding, and hunting. Energetic: They are very active dogs that require plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. They thrive in environments where they can run, play, and work. Loyal and Protective: These dogs are known to form strong bonds with their families and are protective of their loved ones. They tend to be reserved with strangers, which makes them excellent watchdogs. Social: Although they are independent, Yakutian Laikas enjoy socializing with other dogs and humans, especially when raised in a positive, stimulating environment. History and Role: The Yakutian Laika was originally bred for its versatility. The indigenous Yakut people used them primarily for: Hunting: The breed is excellent for hunting large game like moose and elk. They are skilled in tracking and hunting in the frozen wilderness. Sled Dogs: Due to their incredible stamina and strength, these dogs were used to pull sleds in harsh conditions, making them invaluable to the nomadic herders and travelers of the region. Guarding: They were also used as guard dogs to protect property and livestock from predators. In the wild, they have an excellent sense of smell and sound, which makes them effective in both hunting and protection. Their agility and stamina enable them to cover large distances in challenging conditions, making them well-suited for life in the frozen tundra. Adaptability: Cold Tolerance: Their thick fur coat and hardy nature make them highly resistant to extreme cold temperatures, often enduring conditions that would be inhospitable to most other breeds. This adaptation allows them to work effectively in the Siberian winters. Survival Skills: Yakutian Laikas are not just pets but working dogs with a rich history of survival and labor. They have been bred to handle physical challenges and to perform in tough environments. Modern-Day Use: Today, the Yakutian Laika is still used for traditional purposes such as herding and hunting in the Sakha Republic. However, they have also gained popularity outside of Siberia as companion animals for those who enjoy outdoor activities, particularly in cold climates. They are increasingly seen in dog shows and are recognized for their beauty, intelligence, and versatility. In addition to their working capabilities, the Yakutian Laika is also known for its strong bond with its owner and its playful nature, making them good pets for active families. They are not recommended for apartment living, as they need space to roam and exercise. Overall, the Yakutian Laika is a remarkable breed that embodies the spirit and resilience of the people and environment from which it originates. Yakutian Laika puppies in Mayo

Mayo Siberian Husky Age: 8 weeks 2 Males, 1 Female
Yakutian Laika puppies , IKC registered. Yakutian Laika is a very old breed of dogs from a cold part of Russia, which was destroyed by the communist government during the communist period because it gave citizens the opportunity to travel on sleighs (dogs of this breed lived close to Alaska) and escape from the country. After the fall of communism, dog lovers recreated this beautiful breed. Over 8 years ago I imported the first dogs of this breed from Russia and Poland, and 5 years ago the first litter was born. They are closely related to Samoyeds and Huskies. Yakutian Laikas have a calm nature, are delicate and sensitive, obedient, although when unattended they may run away and attack sheep. They get along well with other dogs, as well as cats. They are very intelligent, so they are suitable for agility. Parents have been tested (hips, eyes, hearing) with very good results. ✅️TEMPERAMENT✅️ Yakutian Laikas are, typically, lively, courageous, energetic dogs with fantastic endurance. As sociable sled dogs they thrive in packs and- as they were originally bred to accompany their owners in everyday life- have a particularly close bond with their humans! Yakutian Laikas should be beautifully bold, biddable dogs which make them ideal candidates for agility, joring and so on! Yakutes can be wary of strangers due to their 'watch dog' origin, but should never be aggressive and remain balanced.
