The Scottish Terrier is a small, compact, short-legged, sturdily-built dog of good bone and substance. His head is long in proportion to his body, with a flat skull, a short, blunt muzzle and a powerful jaw. He has a distinctive, shaggy, weather-resistant double coat that is usually black with a sprinkling of white on the chest and toes. The Scottish Terriers ears are small and erect, and his tail is usually long and bushy.
