Description
IKC Purebred Standard (Large) Poodle for sale. 1 year old
River is house, leash and crate trained, he has good recall even with other dogs.
He's nice and calm around the house and has been taught good manners. Won’t jump on people or get up on the couch. Has never been fed from the table or couch so he doesn’t beg. He lives with our toddler and cat and is curious, gentle and affectionate.
We have intentionally never played in the house (besides puzzles and tricks) so he knows not to run about indoors.
He sleeps and naps happily in his crate. He comes and hangs out on a dog bed or crate wherever the family is and can be trusted to chill by himself downstairs while we work from home upstairs or pop out for something. I've forgotten to lock is crate at night a few times and he's just
He's a very intelligent dog. Any tricks he's been taught he gets in minutes. When we got him as a puppy he wasn't house trained having lived outside in dog sheds. He had two accidents day one with us and never again since. He simply trained himself and will knock at the door to go in or out. In the morning he'd rather wait to get to the fields to go bathroom rather than in the garden. Poodles are said to be house proud.
His coat is pure black with a blue tinge when short. He doesn't shed at all. He does need a 5 min brush every couple days if you want him fluffy. If it's done regularly it really is just 5 mins. We let his coat grow wooly for winter which keeps him nice and warm. Short otherwise is easy to manage. We send him to the groomers a few times a year and his paws and face I trim myself between cuts to keep him neat. He knows the drill with the clippers and scissors and is happy to get trimmed, especially if he's fed treats.
He's very affectionate and playful. Every day we go to the fields or for a long walk. He LOVES chasing a laser dot or bubbles in the garden and fields and gets a lot of energy burnt up like this. If I don't go out in the fields then an hours walk with 15 mins of fetch/bubbles/laser at some point keeps him happy.
He's not neutered because I was thinking of siring him. Registered and intact standard male poodles are hard to come by, and I'd been told a few times by vet nurses and poodle owners he was an exceptional and athletic specimen. Also he doesn't hump and is gentle so there was no need.
He gets along great with other dogs. He loves to rough and tumble whether he's the bigger or smaller dog, but can read the vibe and will be chill with quiet dogs. When meeting puppies he instinctively knows to be gentle and will only observe.

28kg a few months ago. I'd guess at 30kg now as he's still growing.
River comes with a large crate, two beds, clippers, coat, training collar, general accessories and toys. And the paper work above.
We bought him for €1000 and the above items are worth about €500.
The price is negotiable but I want to make sure he's going to a suitable home where he can keep the life he's had so far.
He’s a really brilliant dog that we love and have had no trouble with but our family/work dynamic has changed and we want the best for him.
