Description

With a heavy heart, we are looking for a new home for Ron, our male 9 month old Hungarian Vizsla puppy (DOB: 28 October 2025).

After much thought, we've come to realise that we underestimated the time, energy and consistency required to give a young Vizsla everything he needs. We want to do what is best for Ron and find a home that can provide the level of exercise, training, companionship and attention this wonderful breed deserves.

About Ron
Ron is a healthy, intelligent and affectionate young dog. He is active, playful and full of energy, but he is also kind-natured, eager to please and genuinely wants to do the right thing. He responds very well to positive reinforcement and thrives on consistency, routine and regular training.

He is fully toilet trained and has been accident-free indoors for several months. He has learned not to put his front paws on kitchen worktops, does not take food or items from tables (including a low coffee table), and understands that the upstairs area is off-limits, following this rule reliably without reminders.

Ron is gentle with children and plays carefully without using his teeth. He can occasionally be more persistent or excitable than necessary, but with regular guidance and structure he continues to make excellent progress.

He has also learned to stay at home calmly for a few hours without barking and understands that his family will return and he simply needs to wait.

Ron comes with a good pedigree, is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and registered. All relevant documentation will be provided to his new owner.

Ideal Home
We are looking for a responsible and committed owner who understands the needs of a young Hungarian Vizsla. Ideally, you have recent experience with dogs, other pets, or active breeds.

Vizslas are often called "velcro dogs" because they form very close bonds with their people. Ron enjoys being involved in everyday family life and thrives when he can spend plenty of time with his owners.

A Vizsla is not a dog that is happy with a short walk and being left in the garden. Ron will thrive with owners who want an active companion involved in daily life and who have the time to invest in both physical exercise and mental stimulation.

His new home should be able to provide:

  • Long walks and exercise every day

  • Ongoing training and mental stimulation

  • Consistent boundaries and routine

  • Plenty of companionship and family interaction

Preferred Transition

To help Ron settle into his new home with as little stress as possible, we would welcome a gradual transition. Ideally, the new owner would meet Ron first, join us for a few walks, spend some one-to-one time walking him independently, and then bring him home once everyone feels comfortable.

Finding the right home for Ron is far more important to us than achieving a particular sale price. That said, we are not looking to place him just anywhere. We would be happy to discuss the price with the right person if we feel it is an exceptional match for Ron.
We are in no rush and simply want to make sure we find the right match for Ron. Serious and responsible enquiries are warmly welcome.

Tips for contacting sellers

  1. Keep communication through our messaging system for as long as possible.
  2. Choose carefully what information you share about yourself in your messages. Do share info if you have a garden, young kids, or other suitable information to help the seller know you are a suitable buyer.
  3. Report suspicious activity to your local Garda Station and to us via the Report ad button.
  4. We recommend you print or save a copy of this page for your records in case the ad is updated / closed.

Tips for purchasing a puppy

  1. Ask sellers to provide an ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details. You will also need to provide the same & a proof of address to transfer the microchip to your name.
  2. Note microchip IDs posted here (972274200645678) and check the microchip certificates (important) when you visit to make sure they match and the sellers details are on the certificate too (see example microchip certificates).
  3. Do not purchase a dog without seeing a microchip certificate. It is illegal to sell a dog without a microchip that's fully registered (info).
  4. Do not purchase a dog from a seller in a car park or other business location.
  5. Ask sellers about the vet who has taken care of the dogs. Ask for the dog's vaccination certificate(s).
  6. Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract & ask for a written receipt.
  7. It's best not to bring young kids to first meetings, to avoid disappointment in the case you decide not to buy a dog.
