Description
The Dakota Sport Retriever is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Cocker Spaniel. Golden Cocker Retrievers borrow traits from both of their parents, normally with a medium length golden coat, floppy ears and a smaller stature than the Golden Retriever. Friendly, intelligent and energetic making a great family dog that will love to be involved in all your family activities. They have been reared around children and love the interactions.
The Dakota Sport Retriever stands from 14 to 19 inches tall and can weigh anywhere between 20-60 pounds, though the average weight is 30-45 pounds.
They are considered a long haired breed but they do shed less than the average Golden Retriever. The most prominent colour is gold, but can come in all colours and patterns.
The DakotaSport Retriever loves water and to play fetch. They are playful outdoors and calm while inside. This breed is very gentle and loving. They can be trained quite easily as they are very loyal.
They are a soft-tempered breed, people-oriented and forms strong bonds with their owners.

Tips for purchasing a puppy
- Ask sellers to provide an ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details. You will also need to provide the same & a proof of address to transfer the microchip to your name.
- Note microchip IDs posted here (972274200735985, 972274200735973, 972274200731566, 972274200731499) and check the microchip certificates (important) when you visit to make sure they match and the sellers details are on the certificate too (see example microchip certificates).
- Do not purchase a dog without seeing a microchip certificate. It is illegal to sell a dog without a microchip that's fully registered (info).
- See puppies in their home environment and see the mother of puppies.
- Make sure the puppy is 8 weeks before taking ownership of the dog (closer to 10-12 weeks is even better).
- Do not pay a deposit until you've met the owner & puppy in person.
- Do not purchase a dog from a seller in a car park or other business location.
- Ask sellers about the vet who has taken care of the dogs. Ask for the dog's vaccination certificate(s).
- Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract & ask for a written receipt.
- It's best not to bring young kids to first meetings, to avoid disappointment in the case you decide not to buy a dog.
- This seller is a Registered Seller of Pets, ask to see their Registered Sellers ID from the Department of Agriculture.
