Description

IKC Registered (PENDING) miniature Dachshund puppies.

It's important to buy from health-tested parents to avoid inheriting the breed's faults, i.e Cord 1-PRA.Degenerative Myelopathy & Mutation association with OI. All the aforementioned tests ensure that there is no mutation of, e.g., (Cord 1-Pra ) Blindness in young adults, Degenerative Myelopathy (muscle weakness and loss of coordination from the spinal cord) and OI Osteogenesis Imperfecta impairs the development of collagen and causes brittle bones)

This is Penny's second litter; her father was a Kaninchen from Pinedax, full of champions, and she herself, although registered as Miniature, is more like a Kaninchen; she is tiny, weighing 4 kg.

She has been fed chicken together with quality Royal Canin feed and calcium tablets to ensure high volume & quality milk for puppies foundation in life.

These puppies have been given the best start in life , wormed every 2 weeks, nails clipped; they are outside whenever the weather is fine to play in the garden and socialise with our other dogs and people.

It's extremely important that your puppy has been given all these life skills at an early stage.

Unlike some breeders, I keep Penny with puppies until they go to their new home so as to learn from Penny her social skills, like accepting correction. A warning growl from Penny teaches puppies how to accept dominance, and they then accept their place in the pack.

  • This relationship and ability to take correction will be essential to later puppy training.

  • They are being toilet trained with paper at the moment

  • Th e have been vet checked and received their 8/1 vac (eyes, heart and stomach checked and clear)

I am a lifetime member of the Irish Kennel Club and only breed to their code of ethics.

When buying a puppy, it's for a decade normally, so please try and choose a quality puppy from a reputable breeder.

Please do not compare my puppies to unregistered IKC and puppies from parents that are not health tested.

Tips for purchasing a puppy

  1. Ask sellers to provide an ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details. You will also need to provide the same & a proof of address to transfer the microchip to your name.
  2. Note microchip IDs posted here (991001009225053, 991001009225041) and check the microchip certificates (important) when you visit to make sure they match and the sellers details are on the certificate too (see example microchip certificates).
  3. Do not purchase a dog without seeing a microchip certificate. It is illegal to sell a dog without a microchip that's fully registered (info).
  4. See puppies in their home environment and see the mother of puppies.
  5. Make sure the puppy is 8 weeks before taking ownership of the dog (closer to 10-12 weeks is even better).
  6. Do not pay a deposit until you've met the owner & puppy in person.
  7. Do not purchase a dog from a seller in a car park or other business location.
  8. Ask sellers about the vet who has taken care of the dogs. Ask for the dog's vaccination certificate(s).
  9. Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract & ask for a written receipt.
  10. It's best not to bring young kids to first meetings, to avoid disappointment in the case you decide not to buy a dog.

Legally all dogs over the age of 12 weeks must be microchipped. All dogs advertised for sale also need to be microchipped and registered with one of the four approved Irish databases, Animark, Fido, IKC or Irish Coursing Club. Fines can be imposed for being in possession of a dog that is not microchipped.

You can click to see some public details of the dog microchip on the Europetnet website. Always ask to see the microchip cert when you view a dog and crosscheck the owners details.

Laws about microchipping are covered in the Microchippng of Dogs Regulations 2015 (S.I. No. 63 of 2015), section 3(2).

Legally, puppies must be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned before they can be sold and leave their mothers. Puppies can be advertised before the 8 weeks, but not sold. Closer to 10-12 weeks is recommended for separating the mother from its puppies.

This ad states the date of birth is 07/09/2026 adding 8 weeks to this would mean the earliest date of sale should be Monday, 02/11/2026 (in 2 days).
