Our 2-year-old Brown Newfoundland, Bear, is available for his first stud duties.

*Temperament & Personality*

He is everything you would expect from this wonderful breed. He is a much loved family dog with an excellent temperament, thick brown coat and strong, well built frame. He is affectionate, good natured and enjoys the company of people of all ages, including children.

He is an active dog who loves the outdoors and enjoys long walks and exploring the countryside. At home, he is a friendly, relaxed companion with a playful personality..

*Health Testing*

Health and responsible breeding are extremely important to us. He is fully health tested, including:

✅ Heart Doppler tested - Normal

✅ Hips scored – 4/4

✅ Elbows scored - 0/0

✅ Cystinuria (CU) - Clear

All health results are available upon request, and copies of the relevant certificates will be provided.

*Pedigree and Documentation*

Bear is IKC registered, and documentation is available to support his pedigree, with records tracing his lineage back to his great-grandparents. We are happy to share these records with interested owners.

We are looking for suitable Newfoundland females and responsible owners who prioritise the welfare of the breed.

1. Keep communication through our messaging system for as long as possible.
2. Choose carefully what information you share about yourself.
3. Ask for recent health check certificate from their vet, this should check for known issues with the breed & have details of vaccinations. The AKC has a comprehensive list of their health testing requirements per breed.
4. Ask breeders about their vet who has taken care of the dog and contact the vet directly.
5. Ask breeders to provide their ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details.
6. If you are new to breeding, please, please, read this article about breeding dogs.
7. Stud dogs listed need to be 12 months or older. While bigger breeds may mature faster, often health complications don't show until later.
8. Report suspicious activity to your local Garda Station & / or the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine.
9. Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract.
