Sock Thief Society
Description
Sock Thief Society — guidance before your puppy comes home, and support as you grow and learn together.
Choosing a puppy is exciting, but knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. Rescue or breeder? Which breed might suit your lifestyle? What should you be looking for in a breeder? What to ask a breeder? What should you look for when visiting a litter? All questions I can help with.
I’m Clare Dalton, the Puppy Consultant behind Sock Thief Society. I offer personal, one-to-one online guidance and reward-based puppy training for owners across Ireland.
Choosing a Puppy with Confidence gives you space to think through your options before committing. We explore your everyday life, what you hope for in a dog, breed tendencies, and the questions worth asking about a puppy’s health, upbringing and early experiences. You’ll leave with clearer priorities and practical next steps to help you make an informed decision.
Get Ready for Puppy helps you prepare for their arrival: setting up your home, planning the first days and nights, and understanding toileting, sleep, mouthing and settling in.
For puppies already home, I offer focused support and a six-week Puppy Journey. We work on the things that are important to you and your littlest family member —sometimes it's the puppy biting, chewing, best practice for toilet training to foundational cues and recall foundations aswell as learning body language, how puppies learn and build confidence and how to set up your daily life and routines for the best results.
With online sessions, we work on the things that matter right where they happen—in your home and your everyday life with your puppy. I'll ask you to send me videos as you practise, so I can see how you’re both getting on and when you're ready to advance to the next steps and when it's not going as easily as you'd like, I'll offer pointers where something needs a little adjustment. With weekday support along the way, you have someone to help you work things out as you go.
The aim is to help you understand your puppy, feel more confident teaching them and discover the joys of having a little budle of chaos in your life.

Tips for contacting pet services
- Check their website: Look at the business' website and social media to understand the services they offer, how long they have been operating and how they present themselves.
- Ask for references: Ask for references from existing customers and read online reviews. A good business will be happy to put you in touch with people who already use their services.
- Verify who you are dealing with: If you are leaving your dog with a dog walker, sitter or boarder, ask to see photo ID and proof of address, and make sure the person you meet is the person who will be looking after your dog.
- Insurance and qualifications: Ask if the business is insured and what training or qualifications the staff have, especially for grooming, training and boarding.
- Meet before you commit: Arrange a short visit or trial session first so you can see the premises, how they handle your dog and how your dog responds to them.
- Agree costs in writing: Get a clear quote and confirm cancellation terms before booking so there are no surprises later.
