Description

Sandymount Pet Hospital, in Dublin, consistently engages in education and training to enhance our skills and maintain current knowledge in the field.

Established in 1998 by Richard Lavelle, a well-respected and highly regarded member of the local community, our practice has its roots in Richard's years of experience as a companion animal veterinarian in the area. Motivated by a desire to give back to local pet owners, Richard founded Sandymount Pet Hospital.

Today, the practice is managed by Richard and his business partner John, who initially joined Sandymount as an assistant in 2005. Together, they are supported by a team of amiable, proficient veterinarians and nurses, each with a keen interest in various aspects of veterinary medicine. This diverse expertise enables us to offer an unparalleled service catering to a wide array of animals and conditions.

Tips for contacting pet services

  1. Check their website: Look at the business' website and social media to understand the services they offer, how long they have been operating and how they present themselves.
  2. Ask for references: Ask for references from existing customers and read online reviews. A good business will be happy to put you in touch with people who already use their services.
  3. Verify who you are dealing with: If you are leaving your dog with a dog walker, sitter or boarder, ask to see photo ID and proof of address, and make sure the person you meet is the person who will be looking after your dog.
  4. Insurance and qualifications: Ask if the business is insured and what training or qualifications the staff have, especially for grooming, training and boarding.
  5. Meet before you commit: Arrange a short visit or trial session first so you can see the premises, how they handle your dog and how your dog responds to them.
  6. Agree costs in writing: Get a clear quote and confirm cancellation terms before booking so there are no surprises later.
