4 Year Old Golden Cocker Spaniel
Details
Description
We are looking for a new home for our beloved dog Archie. We have had to re advertise him due to a few things we have learned from the sheer number of enquiryās we have received.Ā
Archie has an amazing temperament, great guard dog (doesnāt like the postman etc) but also a couch potato if heās let onto it.
He sleeps every night in the car port outside no problem at all but he would also sleep in the bed (if he was let), he is fully house trained and amazing with kids.Ā
We live beside a main road and have no fencing or gates but Archie has never stepped 1 foot outside our large garden so is very good that way but in new surroundings we wouldnāt want too much distraction from other dogs and people.Ā
Archie eats good quality dog nuts 2-3 times a day, his current food costs ā¬90 for 2 x 12kg bags that last 6-8 weeks but he would eat absolutely anything.Ā
If left alone with a sock or a glove he would chew on it out of boredom so thatās to be mindful of.Ā
He is fine on the lead too, a bit excited but most dogs are usually like that.Ā
It breaks our heart but he is just too much for our very young family (newborn and 2 year old) and itās not fair on him, he would suit a household with older children as he can sometimes get excited and doesnāt know his own strength.Ā
He will only go to a very good home and he has been looked after impeccably.Ā
We have him fully up to date with all injections etc and has been neutered. Has always been fully insured too.Ā
We would consider people that fit into the following bracket:
Ideally live in the countryside, no housing estates as heās just not used to thatĀ
Large garden (we have lots of space for him) and must provide eircodeĀ
Ideally have another dog as Archie loves dogsĀ
Ideally people who are home most of the time as I work from home and Archie sits under my deskĀ
Archie is far from shy when he gets to know you, but with new people he is very shy so any new potential owners will need to be aware of this. He wags his tail and wants to play but is very shy and can sometimes take hours to fully get to know you. Once he does he is fully trusting and an amazing dog.Ā
Serious callers only please.Ā Price is negotiable for the right home as itās our main priority, price is there to reflect serious enquiryās only.

Tips for purchasing a dog
- Ask sellers to provide an ID (driver's licence / passport) and take note of their contact details. You will also need to provide the same & a proof of address to transfer the microchip to your name.
- Note microchip IDs posted here (972274200278182) and check the microchip certificates (important) when you visit to make sure they match and the sellers details are on the certificate too (see example microchip certificates).
- Do not purchase a dog without seeing a microchip certificate. It is illegal to sell a dog without a microchip that's fully registered (info).
- Do not purchase a dog from a seller in a car park or other business location.
- Ask sellers about the vet who has taken care of the dogs. Ask for the dog's vaccination certificate(s).
- Use our contract template www.dogs.ie/contract or another as a basis for a written contract & ask for a written receipt.
- It's best not to bring young kids to first meetings, to avoid disappointment in the case you decide not to buy a dog.
